Senior NOC Support Officer - Night Shift

Job Description

The Night Shift Senior NOC Support Officer is responsible for monitoring, managing, and ensuring the optimal functioning of the organization’s data center, network infrastructure, and critical IT systems during off-business hours. This role includes real-time incident detection and resolution, coordination with cross-functional IT teams, ensuring high availability of systems, and responding swiftly to outages and security events.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor all critical infrastructure including servers, network switches, firewalls, UPS systems, and ACs using centralized monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Zabbix, Nagios).
  • Monitor UPS battery health and AC operation status continuously, with alarms and fallback protocols in case of anomalies.
  • Track power source transitions (Government power / Generator / UPS).
  • Immediately detect, log, and respond to alerts or outages.
  • Escalate incidents to relevant teams (network, server, application, facilities) as per defined SLAs.
  • Maintain real-time communication with duty engineers and management during critical incidents.
  • Conduct physical rounds in the data center to check temperature, cable condition, noise levels, device status LEDs, and security compliance.
  • Ensure that ACs, power, and fire suppression systems are operational.
  • Initiate manual generators if ATS or automatic failovers malfunction.
  • Log all incidents, performance alerts, and actions taken in the shift report.
  • Maintain an accurate logbook and system health dashboard.
  • Submit detailed nightly status reports and incident summaries by end of shift.
  • Liaise with maintenance, electricians, security, and IT teams when on-site intervention is required.
  • Ensure backup recovery readiness in case of configuration loss or shutdowns.
  • Keep close contact with on-call managers for emergency authorizations.
  • Proactively identify vulnerabilities or capacity risks in power and cooling systems.
  • Recommend system improvements, battery replacements, or configuration changes based on nightly logs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration.
  • Minimum 3+ years in network or system monitoring or similar NOC role.
  • Experience working night shifts and with emergency incident management.
  • Familiarity with UPS, AC, Generator, ATS, and server room environments.
  • Good understanding of switches, routers, wireless controllers, and SSH management.
  • Ability to read and interpret logs, alarms, and diagnostics tools.
